Paddy is the main crop in Trimbakeshwar area of Nashik district which is also a tribal area. The average rainfall is about 2500 to 3000 mm. The cultivation of paddy and post cultivation work as well as interculturing operation are mainly done by women. Continuous rain and working in Paddy mud fields due to heavy local structure made from bamboo and leaves of plant called Irele causes various ill effects to the rural working women in this area. KVK Nasik analyzed the problem and considering the need to demonstrated the suitable raincoat that will help the women’s that will help ease the various operation in the field while working during rain.KVK Nashik demonstrated the raincoats has life about 5 yrs for 20 tribal women from adopted village Chakore, taluka Trimbkeshwar to prevent women from frequent rains while working and to increase the work efficiency.
Image: The Raincoats demonstrated for the women are used regularly. The work operation during the rainy season such as paddy transplanting, paddy uprooting , weeding ,hoeing are essential for time to time done very effectively. The women prevented from wetness in rains due to this raincoat while doing the work. They done the work fast and easily with raincoat instead of tradition Irele without trouble. It will prevent them from any illness due to frequent and continuous wetness. The women feel much happy to wear this raincoat instead of Irele.
