Chief Guest's Remarks:Sh. Mahinder Singh Dosanjh, Progressive farmer & Member of Research & Extension Council and Fruit & Vegetable Committee, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana graced this occasion and in his remarks laid emphasis on the use of fertilizers based on soil testing. He exhorted the farmers about soil testing, which is a protective tool against irrational use of nutrients. He also gave a clarion call to the farmers to shun the practice of paddy residue burning, which was deteriorating the soil fertility, human health and the environment. He also laid stress on the processing of agricultural produce for gaining maximum returns.
Post Event Details:As directed by the ICAR, New Delhi, KVK, Hoshiarpur celebrated World Soil Day on 5th December, 2017 at KVK premises. At the outset, Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Hoshiarpur welcomed the guests and farmers and shed brief light into the importance of commemorating the World Soil Day. He also gave insight about various extension activities being carried out by KVK for the benefit of farmers of the area. Sh. Mahinder Singh Dosanjh, Progressive farmer & Member of Research & Extension Council and Fruit & Vegetable Committee, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana graced this occasion and in his remarks laid emphasis on the use of fertilizers based on soil testing. On this occasion, Dr Inderjit Singh Hundal, Former Programme Coordinator (Retd.), KVK Hoshiarpur encouraged the farmers to follow the recommended technologies by PAU, Ludhiana for optimizing farmer’s profit and encouraged the farmers to avail the soil testing facility of the centre for amelioration of soil health. Sh. Dosanjh & Dr Hundal distributed soil health cards prepared by KVK to the farmers on this occasion.
