Pre Event Description :
Focus on Irrigation along with adequate resource building. Increase Production through Improved Seeds, Planting Materials, Organic Farming and Soil Health Card. Strengthening warehousing and cold chain facilities to curb post-harvest losses. Value addition through food processing. Overcoming deficiencies in agriculture marketing through e-NAM.Work on institutional loan to reduce risk and growth of agriculture sector. Allied activities of agriculture like Dairy development, Poultry, Beekeeping, Fisheries, Agro-forestry and Integrated Farming System

Chief Guest's Remarks:The Chief Guest of the programme focus on seven points to double the farmers income by 2022. He spoke on the importance of Soil Health Cards adversely each farming household should have the SHCs by 2022. He elaborated on the PMKSY scheme and effective use of water by drip irrigation and sprinklers. He also stressed on the importance of increasing production through improved seeds, planting materials and organic farming to reduced cost of cultivation. Also to curb post harvest losses be encourage cold chain soar to reduce distress sale. Fourthly, be encouraged the farmers to go for value addition through food processing and also to create employment opportunity to the youth. For the farmers to fetch a better price of their produce the government has launched E-NAM with the aim to create a Unified National Market for Agricultural Commodities. He also encourage the farmers to ensure their crops through PMFBY and RWBCIS so that the farmers feel secure even during natural calamities.
Post Event Details:The Programme started at 9:00 am with the arrival of the Chief Quest (Hon'ble MP - Shri V.H Pala). A film show on Agriculture-kissan was shown to the audience of 285 nos. Farmers and 20 nos. Of Officials. Leaflets on Sankalp Se Siddhi(Literature) was distributed before the start of the programme. Felicitation of the Chief Guests and dignitaries was done by the KVK Staffs followed by the addressed from the local headman of shangpung village. The welcome speech was delivered by shri M J Syngkon, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Jaintia Hills followed by the Honourable Prime Minister message. The pledged administered by the Chief Guest followed by short speech from the District Agriculture Officer, West Jaintia Hills District(Shri L Laloo), which stressed on double cropping and pulse cultivation in Jaintia Hills to increase the farmers income. Also speech was delivered by the local MDC- Shangpung North, Shri K Lytan of Jaintia Hills. He focused on group work among the farmers, using improved seeds to increase productivity, organic farming and integrated farming to reduce cost of cultivation thereby increasing farmers income. The Additional deputy commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Shri D M Wahlang also give a speech on how to increase the farmers income by crop diversification, crop intensification, effective use of water in the hilly regions, water harvesting and importance of livestock and fisheries to double the farmers income.
