Objective: The main objective of the event was to create an awareness among the farmers and to appraise the farmers on the importance of soil health card scheme for better productivity and more income generation
Pre Event Description :
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tuensang; Nagaland celebrated World Soil Day, on 5th December, 2017 at Tuensang Town. Shri. L. Jamithung Lotha, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang; Nagaland graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his speech he deliberated on the importance of soil health card for each and every individual farmer and stated that soil being one of the most important component of the field gets degraded by excess tillaging and continuous cultivation of crops year after year so it was very important for the farmers to know the status of soil and accordingly the recommendations can be made by the kendra for cultivation of different crops. He also called upon the Agri. & Allied departments and NGOs to work together in finding the market so that the production could be fully utilized. During the celebration 332 soil health cards were distributed covering 6 villages. Mr P.M Supong from Chendang village shared on behalf of the farmers and encouraged them to adopt the technologies.

Post Event Details:During the celebration soil health cards were also issued to the farmers. All together 332 soil health cards were issued to 6 villages (Longra, Angangba, Kejok, Hagchang, Old Mangakhi and New Mangakhi). Mr P.M. Supong from Chendang village encouraged his fellow farmers to adopt the technologies dessimimated by the KVK institute for better production & soil management. He stated that his village is one who has a close linkage with Kendra and every since growth in agriculture has become evident. All participating farmers and village representatives resolved to join hands with the KVK in working towards a better livelihood. 383 participants from Agri and allied Departments, NGOs and farmers attended the celebration program.
