Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Garo Hills celebrated National Campaign on Nutri Garden and Tree Plantation on 17th September, 2021 at Farmers’ Training Centre, Warimagre, Chokpot. The programme was graced by Shri Bilgrak M. Marak, SDO, PHE, Chokpot subdivision as Chief Guest who spoke on importance of nutri garden and tree plantation. Dr Athokpam Haribhushan, Senior Scientist &Head and President of the programme enlightened the participants on health benefits of millets and need for area expansion and increase in production of millets. A total of 100 farmers, farm women, girls and anganwadi workers from different villages of South Garo Hills attended the programme. During the programme, vegetable seeds from IIHR, Bengaluru and fruit tree saplings were distributed to the participants. A technical session on “Nutri cereals and their role on human health” was delivered by Miss Charish P. Marak, Farm Manager, KVK, South Garo Hills. Tree plantation was also done at the office premises.
