Dr.N.K.Mishra, SMS (Agri. Extn) talked about the role of KVK in agriculture development and contribution of KVK for upliftment of socio economic status for farming community. The Programme was organised to celebrate the contribution and achievements of fishers, fish farmers and other stakeholders and reinforce commitment towards sustainable and equitable development of the fisheries sector.The event was graced by Mr.Dorjee Letro, President of Kishan Morcha of Dirang Block. All total 38 participants were participated the programme. Mr.Letro urged the gathering that we should not pollute our fresh water ecosystem and try to keep it clean.Mr. Satyendra Kumar,SMS (Fisheries) of KVK gave a brief note on history and importance of the day. He also gave training on "Sustainable aquaculture practice". During his technical deliberation he opined that riverine fish catch is declining day by day and the main reason behind it is indiscriminate or overfishing,capture of gravid fish during breeding time, use of zero mesh size fishing net.

Obi, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dirang graced the occasion as Chief Guest in the presence of Director ICAR-NRC on Yak, Horticulturist (RAN) and CDPO, Dirang. Altogether 64 participants were present the programme alongwith Supervisors of ICDS office and Anganwadi workers of Dirang. The Chief Guest was favorably impressed by the continuing efforts of the KVK scientists. He also distributed seeds to farmers and interacted with them. Anganwadi workers and ICDS staff participated enthusiastically in training programme on Nutri-Thali and Nutri- Kitchen Garden. Also showcased different varieties of bio-fortified crops. The participants clarified their doubts and questions through the experts during ensuing question and answer session. Under the leadership of Dr. N. D. Singh, Sr. Scientist and Head of the Kendra and Dr. Divya Pandey, SMS (Home Science) is the Nodal Officer for the events rated to Poshan Maah.

Smti Pema Dolma (ASM Dirang village), chief guest of the occassion advised the farmer to get the soil of their fields tested to improve their production and productivity with the help of KVK. Dr. S. Deori, Sr.Scientist who chaired the occasion emphasized on the importance of soil testing in enhancing their agricultural production without comprising on quality of crop and improved their livelihood. Dr. Medhi, Sr.Scientist, ICAR-NRC on Yak talked on the importance of different nutrients on the performance of the crops and also about the soil. During the technical session, Shri T.S Mishra, SMS (Horti.) and Dr. W.Purnima Devi, SMS (Agro) explained the procedure of soil collection for testing and also emphasized on the importance of soil health card. Altogether 130 soil health cards and pamphlets related to world soil day were distributed to the farmers.
