Description : Mr. Ripan Chandra Das, SMS (Agronomy) interacted with the farmers on baby corn cultivation package & practices for commercial purpose. Also interacted with the farmers about when to cut down the tassels of baby corn and about harvesting as well as use of baby corn plant as a good source of green fodder. Mr. Bijon Sharma, Asst. Director interacted with the farmers about good keeping quality and size of corn at least 10-12 cm is the best. Also interacted with the farmers about spacing 45 X 15 cm is the best for plant population and suggested farmers to cut down tassels with flag leaf to maintain quality of corn production. At practical session all officials and participating farmers together cut down the tassels with flag leaf in one block and without of flag leaf in another block for corn size judgment. After that farmers harvested baby corn and removed husk, silk and finally tasted to judge which stage corn is suitable for harvesting.

Description : Campaign on “Nutri cereal and tree Plantation” was done at KVK Unakoti on 17-09-2022. Guests present in the occasion were Sri. Bijan Sharma, ADA, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Sri. Pranab Mahajan, DDM, NABARD, Panchayat Pradhan and Upa pradhan of Chantail & Jarultali Panchayat. Programme was inaugurated by lightening the candle, Welcome speech was given by Dr. Jayasree Datta, SMS(Agricultural Extension). Sri. Bijan Sharma discussed about the nutria cereal status of the state and importance of its cultivation. Recorded message of Union minister Sri. Narendra Singh Tomar were telecasted in the programme. In technical session Sri. Ripan Chandra Das, SMS (Agronomy) discussed about Nutri cereal and bio-fortified seeds. Sri. Joyjit Das (Farm Manager) discussed about role of nutria cereal in human body. Seed packets, one papaya seedlings, one black pepper seedlings were distributed among the farmers. Total 80 nos. farmers were present in the campaign programme.

Extension),Mr. SumenKapali, SMS (Plant Protection), Mr. Joyjit Das, Farm Manager of KVK Unakoti, Chantail interacted about the water conservation and rain water harvesting structure. Mr. Ripan Chandra Das, SMS (Agronomy) interacted with the participatory farmers for improved rain water harvesting structure and lifesaving irrigation for crops and domestic uses of rain water during winter season. Under Unakoti District, flood effect is most serious problem during rainy season, so needed improved rain water harvesting structure. Dr.Jayasree Datta, SMS (Agril. Extension) andMr. SumenKapali, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Unakoti interacted with the farmers for shortage of water during rabi season and reduce of crops yield. Mr. Brajalal Debnath,Gram Up Pradhan, Mr. Shamyal Debnath and Mr. Upanshu Debnath, Member of PRI, request to villagers for harvesting of rain water and renovation of pond for conservation of water.
