Description :
An awareness program was organized for lactating women and delivered a lecture.
For boosting milk production and improving lactation, galactagogues like methi seeds, jeera, and specific preparations like goand laddu (edible gum), methi laddu, almond halwa, dried ginger (saunth) burfi, and dishes employing bajra and green leafy vegetables are advised in India. Ajwain, fennel (saunf), and garlic are among the herbs and spices that have been suggested to help in digestion and reduce infant colic pain. However, since they are high in fat and calories, one should consume these preparations in moderation.
Bajra, also known as pearl millet, is rich in calcium, iron, and fibre, all of which are vital for both the developing baby and the nursing mother. Additionally, bajra promotes lactation.
Finger millet (Ragi), which increases lactation, produces breastmilk, and crucial for both the baby and the nursing mother.
