It was noted that food intake was not sufficient as per their recommended dietary needs. Participants were taught about their dietary needs during different phases of pregnancy, and lactation period. They also gained knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding. Participants also got to know about various foods that are locally available and can help their dietary needs for a healthy leaving and child growth. The results at the preharvest time on 30th July, 2024 were very much visible as the trees provided with Bouquet pollination with Golden Delicious Pollinizers and with boron application showed improved fruit set, yield and better quality than the ones which were left untreated. On the very same day, the result demonstration was carried out to about 6 to 7 farmers and shown the advantages of using Bouquets and Boron spray for improved pollination in Apple

The farmers have recently established Ultra HDP in apple on M-9 rootstock with Gala Scion variety. The farmer was advised to go for summer pruning and then for bending of branches along with foliar application of Calcium Chloride . Many trees were showing the symptoms of Root Rot and was advised to go for soil drenching with specific fungicides and bio control with trichoderma. The farmer was provided with all the management details in a scientific way and was advised to follow them properly.

Description : A Field day on Front line demonstration was conducted on 29th September, 2023 in which about 13 farmers were shown the effect of pre harvest application of Potassium sulphate on colour development of Delicous Apple cultivar in the fields of selected farmers who had sprayed Potassium sulphate as per recommendations made to them. The farmers were very much influenced by seeing the colour development in treated apple trees in comparison to untreated ones. The plants sprayed with K2SO4 not only showed better colour development in response to the treatment than in untreated ones but also showed very less preharvest fruit drop as per the observations of the selected farmers in whose orchard the spraying was done. The farmers were also given a lecture about the ways to get the HDP apple orchards established by way of subsidies and schemes which government has provided for them.

Description : An animal health camp was organised by KVK on 29th May at two places, Drung village, Tangmarg and Kunzer. Dr. C.K. Jana, Principal Scientist, IVRI, Izzatnagar was the main speaker of the prgramme, Dr. Manoj Kumar, KVK Head and other KVK staff joined the prgramme. During his lecture he recommends the farmers on prevention and control measures to avoid diseases in livestock, its metabolism, food habits with special coverage on Lumpy Disease, its measures etc. During the programme some necessary medicines were also distributed to the 13 farmers holding their own livestock in their farms with recommendation on doses. Description : Delivered lecture on, “Grading, Packing and Handling of Fruits” in which the farmers were informed about the importance of grading and packing and how proper grading and packing can improve the net returns and increase farmers income considerably. The farmers were informed about the major improvements they need to bring in their harvesting pattern so that the shelf life of the fruits is increased e.g by spraying preharvest chemicals like Calcium chloride, Auxins, AVG, 1-MCP as preharvest sprays or post harvest dips. Farmers were advised to also incorporate minor changes in their storage patterns which would increase the storage life and reduce postharvest losses of their produce. The farmers were also given knowledge about FPOs, as that how they can sell their produce in the market which will fetch them good rates. The training programme also was conducted during this period with the objective that at this period of time, farmers are involved in grading, and packing of their fruits.

The training programme was organized by Dr. S. N. kirmani (SMS Horticulture) and delivered the lecture about the importance of leaf analysis for enhancing quality fruit production and the technique how to collect leaf samples from fruit orchards and other related aspects regarding fruit tree nutrition. Leaf analysis sampling techniques was also demonstrated to the orchardists in field. Training session was followed by interactive session with the farmers.

The two improved breeds (Cordial and Kashmiri Merino) Ram were also provided to the two group of livestock rears to increase their income and make enterprise more economical. The demonstration of seed grader cum cleaner was conducted on 28th April 2021. The participant farmers were made aware technologies and steps of quality seed production. The importance and working of seed grader cum cleaner developed by ICAR- CIAE Bhopal was explained to the farmers by Sh. Manzoor Ahmad Khatana project Assistant, ARYA .

Description : A one day off campus training programme on canopy management of temperate fruit crops by training and pruning technologies was held at Lal pora village of Kunzer block on 11thJanuary 2017 in this training programme 40 farmers from nearby villages participated. At this occasion, Dr Manoj Kumar, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK welcomed the participating farmers and briefed about the objective of the programme and informed that the farmers would be benefited from KVK through training s,FLD, advisory services and quality planting material to be produced at KVK farm.Dr. Waseem Hasan Raja explained the concept of high density planting of apple orchard using new spur type cultivars.Dr. Krishan Lal Kamawat, explained the basic principle of canopy management along with different training system of apple, cherry, and walnut plants.Mr. Lal Chand delivered lecture on after harvest management operations including farm sanitation, orchard floor management, irrigation and disease management.

Description : A one day on campus training programme on fodder cultivation was organised by KVK at Kunzer on 3rd December 2016. Dr. DeshBeer Singh, DirectorICAR-CITH, Srinagar was the chief guest of the programme. He urged the farmers to adopt new agricultural technologies to increase production and productivity. He also delivered lecture on improved temperate horticultural practices. At this occasion seed of improved varieties of oat was distributed to the farmers for Front Line Demonstration., Dr. Manoj Kumar, Head, KVK delivered a lecture on improved fodder cultivation technologies. 20 farmers from different parts of the Tangmarg area participated in the programme.

Description : A one day training programme on fodder cultivation was organised by KVK Baramulla at Dak Banglow, Lagama in Uri area near to Border area on 25 November 2016. At this occasion seed of improved varietiers of oat was distributed to the farmers for front Line Demonstration. At this occasion Dr. D K Verma, Principal Scientist, IGFRI-RS, Srinagar, delivered a lecture on improved fodder cultivation technologies. Earlier Dr. Manoj Kumar, Head, KVK delivered lecture on improved oat cultivation practices and compost preparation for better utilization of farm residues and farm yard manure to increase farm productivity and cleanliness. 35 farmers from different parts of the Uri area participated in the programme.

Description : Training programme on improved rapeseed-mustard cultivation practices and compost preparation technologies was conducted by KVK Baramulla. At this occasion, seed of improved varieties of rapeseed mustard suitable for this region was distributed for front line demonstrations to the farmers. Swachhwata sapath was also taken by the participants during Swachhta Pakhwara being celebrated by KVK under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Dr. Manoj Kumar, Head, KVK delivered lectures on improved rapeseed-mustard cultivation and compost preparation technologies for better utilization of farm residues, farm yard manure and home waste to increase farm productivity as well as cleanliness. 75 farmers from different parts of the district were benefited through seed distribution and training programmes.

Description : The newly started Horticulture Nursery and vocational training programme on entrepreneurship development though nursery raising organized by ICAR-CITH-KVK, Baramulla was inaugurated by Yasha Mudgal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla and chief guest of the function on 5th March 2016. Dr. Manoj Kumar, Head KVK welcomed the chief guest and briefed about importance of vocational training programme on nursery raising in employment generation and ensuring availability of quality planting materials to the farming community. The function was presided over by Dr. D.B. Singh, Director ICAR-CITH. Srinagar. He described new technologies available in temperate horticulture sector and assured participants that KVK and CITH will provide all possible support and facilities to boost the agricultural productivity of the Baramulla district. He also urged the participants to take nursery development as an enterprise.

Description : Kisan Sammelan cum exhibition was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Baramulla at Town Hall Kunzar on 2nd December, 2015. The Chief Guest of the function was Mr. Abdul Quyoon Sheikh SDM, Tangmarg and guest of honor were Dr. A.A. Sofi, former Director, ICAR-CITH, Srinagar, Mr. Abdul Quyoom, Chief Agriculture Officer, Baramulla and Dr. Nazir Ahmad Bhat, Tehsildar, Kunzar. The function was presided over by Dr. D.B. Singh, Director ICAR-CITH. Srinagar. In this programme about 250 farmers, farm women and rural youths from 30 different villages of the Baramulla district, 30 official from agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry department of state and representative from district information office, education department and other developmental department of state as well as central Government and NGO’s were present in the function.
