Description : The aim of the programme was to make the BODs and CEOs of the four FPOs aware about the importance of entrepreneurship development through agriculture and details regarding market linkage for FPOs, under FPO scheme. Shri. Amos Newme, District Functional Specialist, Livelihoods Non farm, NSRLM-Peren spoke on the Scope and Opportunities of Agri-entrepreneuship. He stressed on the already ongoing One District One Product (ODOP) programme and on giving importance to crops specific to the district such as king chilly, tree tomato, fermented mustard leave extract locally known as ‘ziegicang’. He also emphasized on the cultivation of maize which can also be used as pig feeds. Miss. Samlamgwamlie Michui, Food Safety Officer, Dimapur during her presentation, outlined the importance of grading, branding and packaging of agri products. Miss. Heusuizailie, Centre Manager, Peren IDAN also elaborated in details about the various government schemes that can be avail by the FPOs for their operational.

Description : ICAR-KVK Peren, Jalukie in collaboration with ICAR Research Complex for NER, Nagaland centre, Jharnapani conducted Seed distribution programme at Beisumpuikam village with selected farmers on 14.06.21. During the programme package of practices of lowland rice cultivation was discussed by Dr.Patu K. Zeliang, ACTO, PBG KVK Peren for Seed production of lowland paddy RCM-9 to meet the demand for seeds. While under Oil seed promotion, cultivation practices of Sesame were discussed for increasing production and productivity by Dr. Harendra Verma, Scientist, PBG, ICAR Jharnapani and his team members Ms. Sakuonuo Theunuo, SRF and Imtijungla Jamir, SRF. Under the programme, two quintals of lowland paddy RCM-9 and three high yielding varieties of Sesame were distributed to the farmers to cover 10 hectares along with plant protection chemicals. Towards the end of the programme, Chairman Beisumpuikam village Mr. Tadibe related how farmers in the village were cultivating rice only for grain purpose

Sixty five farmers attended the programme.

Inaugural Programme of KVK Peren

Description : Launching cum awareness programme on winter vegetable crop production was conducted with Shri. Rhosietho Ngouri, SDO (Civil) as the Chief Guest.and was attended by the officers from the Forest, Land Resource Dept, Agriculture, Veterinary depts and North East Rural Livelihood Project. The programme was followed by a technical session wherein farmers were given trainings on Soil health management techniques by Mr. Z. James Kikon, Programme Coordinator I/c, KVK Peren, Cultivation practices of important rabi vegetable crops by Dr. Aabon W. Yanthan, Scientist (Horticulture), ICAR, Nagaland Centre and on rabi field crops by Dr. Kolom Rabi, SMS (Plant Breeding), KVK Dimapur. Small farm implements, tools and vegetables seeds were distributed to the farmers during the programme. Altogether 60 farmers from Samzuiram, Lilen, Jalukie, Nkwakreu, and New Peren attended the day long programme which ended with a Vote of thanks from Dr. Patu K. Zeliang, SMS (Plant Breeding& Genetics), KVK Peren.
