Vermi compost demonstration unit had been developed by the financial assistance of ICAR having facility of pakka shed and bed. We process 2 tons cow/buffalo dung in single batch and it mostly converted as fertilizer in 3 months of period. We are using “Jai Gopal” Vermiculture Technology technology developed by IVRI, Barelley The Specifications and salient technical features of this technology are as under:A new Indian earthworm species “Jai Gopal” (Perionyx ceylanesis) is developed through selection and mating plan which is better than exotic earthworm Eisenea foetida, Eudrilus eugeneae.

Soil and water testing laboratory was established in KVK Mehsana in 2011. Main objective of the STL lab is to provide the Soil Health Card to farmers and scientific approach in agriculture practices in term of judicial uses of fertilizers. Recently Government focus on importance of Soil health Card due to Fertilizer consumption in India is highly skewed with different area and crops. Though there has been an impressive growth in the consumption of fertilizers in post green revolution period so it is top most priority of times to control the consumption of fertiliser and reach potential yield of crops as well as improved soil fertility.

Farmer's hostel is available with 18 room and each room is well furnished with three or four bed and wardrobe. other facility like water cooler, geyser, two VIP suit room with fully AC and well furnished. Total intact of farmers hostel's is 60 and equipped with kitchen with all essential.

KVK Mehsana has 20 ha of land for various extension activities purpose and instructional farm. KVK has 5 ha of land under cropping area and 5 ha of land under horticulture crops. Various crops like Wheat, fennel, lucerne, perlmillet, greengram, blackgram, groundnut, cumin, cotton, tobbacco etc are sown at instructional farm for demonstration and seed production purpose. Lime, sapota, aonla and other fruits crops sown in horticulture area of farm. We adopted scientific approach for cropping system with drip irrigation facility. We have established Plug nursery for seedling purpose.

Plant Health clinic is unique initiative tried by KVK, Mehsana to link the farmers with the scientific knoweldge. With farmers realizing benefits from this service, there is a growing demand for the service of the plant health clinics. PHC established under the scheme for providing adequate diagnostic and advisory facilities to farmers on time and also to facilitate eco-friendly and scientific pest manamegement strategies to increase production and productivity. PHC is mainly working on pests and diseases diagnosis and to advisories as well as farmers field activities for the benefit of farming community.

Nursery Unit: Nursery unit established in 1 ha area with financial assistance of NHB. Main objective of unit is that, to provide quality plants and planting materials to farmers and mother institute.
